Enoch Morrison: Gor Mahia Midfielder Advocates for Ghana-Based Players in Black Stars

Former Asante Kotoko and current Gor Mahia midfielder Enoch Morrison is urging Ghana’s national team selectors to give locally based players more opportunities in future Black Stars call-ups.

In an exclusive interview on Onua TV, Morrison emphasized the untapped potential of domestic talent in the Ghana Premier League. “Former Asante Kotoko and Gor Mahia midfielder Enoch Morrison is backing not only the selection of locally‑based players into the Black Stars but fielding them for games”  .

While currently playing abroad with Gor Mahia in Kenya, Morrison admits that his chances for the Black Stars remain uncertain. He commented that “for now it will be difficult to play for the Black Stars” due to his current overseas status  .

Morrison’s call comes amidst ongoing debate in Ghanaian football circles regarding the balance between foreign‑based stars and domestic league performers in national team selections. His stance offers a compelling argument for coaches and officials to take a closer look at local talent performing at high levels regionally.

As Ghana prepares for upcoming international fixtures, Morrison hopes his own career path—rising from domestic leagues to foreign competition—serves as both inspiration and illustration of what can be lost when homegrown players are overlooked.
