Barça Atlètic left-back David Oduro attracts interest from Girona.

Girona are eyeing a move for promising Ghanaian left-back David Oduro, currently with Barça Atlètic, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The 19-year-old, who is on loan at Barcelona from Accra Lions until 2027, has emerged as a key target following Barça B’s recent relegation to the Segunda RFEF.

According to reports from Africa Foot and Foot Africa, Girona have already initiated contact with Barcelona regarding a potential deal. Their interest comes at a crucial time, with first-choice left-back Miguel Gutiérrez ruled out for 6–8 weeks due to an ankle injury. Girona are keen to reinforce that position before the start of the season.

Barcelona, however, see Oduro as a long-term project. While open to the idea of giving him more first-team exposure elsewhere, they would prefer a season-long loan without a purchase option rather than a permanent transfer. For Oduro and his representatives, regular game time in a more competitive setting is a top priority—and Girona may be the ideal destination.

Oduro joined Barça Atlètic in August 2024 on a three-year loan deal and quickly made an impression, including a standout performance in the UEFA Youth League. Despite his potential, his minutes were limited last season—just ten league appearances and one in Europe—prompting him to seek more consistent first-team action.

For Girona, securing a young, energetic left-back like Oduro could provide much-needed depth and dynamism as they prepare for another La Liga campaign. And for Barcelona, a loan move would allow Oduro to develop while keeping the door open for a future return.
